Has anyone made a listing of websites that use no scripts, minimal scripts or at least scripts and cookies that return only to the originating website (like informaction.com)? Because of noscript and other enhancements to Firefox I've become increasingly aware of the invasive practices many websites use against unsuspecting internet browsers. Some websites will have 30 or more scripts redirecting the identity of your computer across the internet to spammers, hackers and many different organizations you do not want your existence to be known. What's worse, these scripts, cookies, webbeacons, trackers etc. degrade the quality and readability of the websites they are placed upon. I get sick of websites bouncing, popping, blanking and 404ing and the text (and ads) and cursor losing focus and floating all over the webpage as they load and after they have loaded. It's getting worse and worse and it is ridiculous. I want plain old fashioned HTML. For instance when you try to post a message on youtube now it takes a moment for the text box to 'load' and allow you to start typing despite repeated clicking in the text field which really isn't a text field anymore. I have to make sure the right scripts are allowed just to get the comments to load. The internet is becoming more and more unusable. At one time "User Friendly" was everything. Now the MO is let's manipulate, redirect and toss users around like tennis balls anyway we can.
For example, I would like to read the news online for once again in simple HTML. Also, I would like to be able to make comments on message boards without google-analytics, linked in, facebook and dozens of other third parties recording it and using it against me in the future. Anonymity is essential to free speech. No-script is awesome for this and moreso it is awesome for detecting all the third parties your browsing habits are being sent to. So a supplementary listing of websites that do not do that would be very nice, a listing of websites (whether they are news, e-mail, message boards, etc.) that do not contain scripts.
If this list were to become popular it may pressure other websites to start using their own scripting and stop taking advantage of viewers.
Also, I read an article about this once. It was advice to webmasters on why to stop using third party scripting and how to do usage statistics without using third party scripting. At the end of the article it advised readers to use the Noscript extension. Anyone know where that is?
